I strongly believe our profession makes a uniquely valuable contribution to creating better organisations and better working lives and was proud to be recognised as a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel & Development (CIPD) in 2005. I particularly enjoy working with leadership teams, to identify, and improve the people, culture, and HR support required to enable or cope with economic, technological or organisational change and transformation. 

Since 2014 I have thoroughly enjoyed coaching, HR and training as a freelance with many and varied SME organisations. I cut my management teeth in the hospitality industry and have worked for large organisations in food manufacturing, automotive and retail. I am delighted to have served at HR director level with Greggs, and in various Senior HR & management roles with Unipart, Boots, Samworth Brothers and others.

Shelley is an experienced HR Consultant with skills in a range of areas including resolving tricky employee relations matters, and as a qualified business lecturer, Shelley is also skilled in designing and delivering engaging training sessions.  Shelley is currently undertaking doctoral research into employee-owned organisations and employee voice, and provides consultancy services to a number of employee-owned businesses using her specialist knowledge in this sector.  Shelley’s company, Wellington HR Ltd, undertakes work for Avalon HR on an associate basis.
